The Praxis Journal

Our Subsequent Declaration of Intellectual Awareness and Freedom that should be Read.

Praxis is an independent journal, put together by a group of students who wanted to express themselves under their own terms.  A strict conceptualization of just what Praxis is would prove to be quite a difficult endeavor, and would result in more obscurity than actual clarification.  The essence of Praxis is that of expression; as such, there is no one specific medium through which it may flow.  Accordingly, the pages of Praxis feature a number of different modes of transference, including but not limited to, philosophical discourse, poetry, visual renderings, social commentary, and a great degree of avant-garde, mind-blowing humor.

Praxis literally means practice, or action; perhaps this, in its most basic form, is the most accurate description of just what it is.  Above all else, Praxis is nothing more than that: action. It is the process of transforming that which is simply theoretical into that which is actual.  It’s about taking great ideas, hopes, dreams, desires and the lot thereof, and actually doing something with them rather than just letting them wilt away idly (a state of affairs that tragically passes as the norm in most cases).  What may pass as a simple literary journal on the surface in truth is nothing less than a formal stance against indolence, delusion, and apathy.

Praxis is a group of individuals who have come together, not because it counts for credit of any kind, not because it looks good on a resume, but simply because they wanted to.  There’s no real reason as to why Praxis exists other than that.  They had something to say and they wanted to say it. And so they did.  And they continue to.  And that, above all else, is reason enough.

  • Became bored of the old layout (see below). Not sure if this one will last either. It’s a risk we’ll have to accept, until a multitude of people revolt. oldlayout0809
